Our Pre-K 4 classroom is a "launchpad" for success. We’ve designed this program to bridge the gap between preschool play and elementary school expectations. At Lil Leopards, we ensure our "graduates" leave us with the confidence to lead, the social skills to collaborate, and the academic foundation to excel in Kindergarten and beyond.

Our Pre-K 4 curriculum aligns with Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines, focusing on the "Big Four" areas of development:

  • Emergent Literacy: We move beyond letter names into phonics, sight words, and early writing. Our students practice "journaling" and start recognizing the relationship between sounds and letters.

  • Mathematical Thinking: From basic addition and subtraction concepts to measuring and graphing, we make math a hands-on adventure.

  • Scientific Inquiry: We lean into the "Natural Scientist" in every child. We conduct weekly experiments, observe life cycles, and explore the world around us.

  • Executive Function: This is the year of "Big Kid" skills—following multi-step instructions, managing personal belongings, and practicing sustained focus during small-group activities.

  • Expert Educators: Our Pre-K 4 teachers are specialists in school readiness, completing 30+ hours of annual training to stay at the forefront of early childhood education as well as earning their CDA credential (for excellence in Early Childhood Education).

  • Safety First: Your child is in a secure, monitored environment where every staff member is CPR/First Aid certified. We have regular inclimate weather and evacuation drills.

  • Parent Partnership: Through our app, you’ll receive updates on exactly what topics and daily focuses were covered each day, so you can reinforce the learning at home!

Pre-K 4 at Lil Leopards is high-energy and high-engagement:

  • Writer’s Workshop: A dedicated time for fine motor development and creative expression through drawing and early writing.

  • Technology & Media: Safe, supervised introduction to educational tools that prepare them for the digital world of elementary school.

  • The "Peace Table": We teach advanced conflict resolution. Our 4-year-olds learn how to use their words to solve problems and empathize with their peers.

  • Fuel for the Brain: Just like all our programs, nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included in your tuition to keep their energy high for a full day of learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We provide regular developmental assessments and parent-teacher conferences. We look at the "Whole Child"—not just if they can count to 100, but if they can share, follow directions, and manage their emotions. Our goal is to make sure they are 100% ready for that first day of "Big School."

  • Absolutely! Pre-K 4 is the prime year for the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA). Many of our families use these state funds (up to $10,500) to cover the cost of our high-quality private Pre-K, giving their child a competitive edge before entering the public or private school system.

  • We sure do! We celebrate our "Leopard Graduates" with a special ceremony every spring. It’s a wonderful tradition for the Zimmerer family and our staff to cheer on our students as they move on to their next big adventure.

  • While the state allows for larger groups at this age, we maintain lower ratios to ensure every student gets the individual "check-ins" they need during their curriculum centers.

  • At Lil Leopards, we believe play IS the work of the child. Even our "academic" lessons are hands-on. We don't do boring worksheets; we do "math with marshmallows," "science with slime," and "literacy with LEGOs."
